One person found out the hard way – never to let your laptop out of sight on a plane.

On arriving in Munich, though, she learned that the bag was not on the plane: The attendant had put it outside, where it arrived too late to be checked and was put on another flight. Four days later, the bag showed up in Washington, D.C., minus the laptop.

Just discovered this site by a Swedish lady that is traveling around Americ by bike and kayak.

In all of her luggage she still carries a laptop which she uses to update her website.

Her advice: Carry a big camera:

When I was in a remote and poorer section of India, I was harassed by a bunch of teenage boys. I whipped out my camera with its 300mm lens and chased them with it. Oh yeah, the camera’s good for taking great shots too.

Wi-fi is incredibly convenient for travellers on the road. Free wireless conncections abound in large cities and hotels.

However, by logging on to a free, unsecure connection you could be putting yourself at considerable risk.

Without using any protection, anyone else sharing the wireless connection can gain access to your computer.

Well not quite. A new company helps people to download parts of the internet down to their PC for offline use.

A sales professional staying in a London hotel could access reviews for nearby restaurants without the hassle of paying for an Internet connection. Airplane travelers could use Webaroo to read portions of The New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle or News.com without needing an airborne Internet service such as Connexion by Boeing.
